Economy and Social Policy

As a foundation which promotes social democratic values, we are aiming to support a dialogue on social market economy, social justice and decent work.

It is most important for us that now in the times of the oil production, all Ghanaians will benefit from this development and income for the state. Economic growth needs to be employment-oriented. The economy and social policies of Ghana should follow the principles of allowing all citizens to live a decent life and to have the opportunity to alter life for the better. The state needs to recognise its role of a regulator to ensure social justice and a socially-just economy.

Therefore, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung works with its partners in the field of the structural transformation of the Ghanaian economy, the oil and gas business, the work of the trade unions and the informal sector.
