Effective Political Communication in Ghana

Campaigning in Ghana is generally expensive. This is a huge deterrent to people who are capable to stand for elections and have inadequate funds, especially the youth and women. This book gives pointers on how to:

  • Prepare campaigns;
  • Run campaigns with very little funds;
  • Move away from personalised campaigns to issue-based ones and couch catchy phrases for campaigns.

Moreover, the publication addresses general topics such as the importance of messages to the voters which should be factual and not personal or offending. Candidates with even long-term experience in campaigning can use this manual to further improve their campaigns.

The manual was made possible by Elephantlogic (Consultancy in Berlin) and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.

Elephantlogic GmbH is run by Kajo Wasserhövel and Svenja Hinrichs. Both of them have trimendous knowledge on campaigning. Kajo Wasserhövel organised the national campaigns of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in 1998, 2002, 2005 and 2009. He was awarded the politics award for best campaign manager of the year for his work as campaign manager for the SPD in 2005.
